Prosthetics and amputee care

Our prosthetics team welcomes all patients with limb loss: recent, long-recovered, or congenital; upper limb or lower limb. We support patients with amputations related to trauma, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, cancer, congenital, and other conditions, no matter how complex.

About our team

Our multidisciplinary clinic team includes orthopaedic surgeons, physiatrists, certified prosthetists, and specialized physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Your care team will discuss your goals for recovery, and for regaining function and independence. They will work with you to create a treatment plan that includes a custom device, rehabilitation and education. This support includes access to our funding advisor who can help you apply for potential funding support to cover the cost of your custom device.

About our prosthetics

Our certified prosthetists and technicians are experts in designing, building and fitting prosthetic devices. Your care team will get to know your goals, overall health, activity level, lifestyle and recovery, in order to design your prosthesis.

Every device is designed and made on-site in our lab. Prosthetists and technicians make adjustments and repairs in real-time to make sure you achieve maximum comfort and function.

Funding

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care offers partial coverage for prosthetic devices. The remaining cost of your device is your responsibility. Get funding details and information about available support.

If your amputation was originally the result of a workplace injury, please contact your WSIB case manager to check your coverage status.

Becoming a patient

If you need amputee care, a new device, or repairs to an existing device, we are happy to help.

To be seen by our prosthetics and amputee care team, we require a referral from a physician.
