Community partnerships and coalition work

What we do

We network and partner with organizations and coalitions with cancer prevention and screening mandates across the GTA region. We work with these groups to develop, implement and evaluate events, new resources and programs.

Examples of our partnerships and networks

We work with public health units, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Toronto Cancer Prevention Coalition, the GTA Cancer Prevention and Screening Network, the GTA Colorectal Health Network, the Cancer Prevention Network of York Region (CPNYR) and the Ontario Collaborative Group on Healthy Eating and Physical Activity.

Our partners at CPNYR, for example, embarked on the "promoting cancer screening" card and poster project, which raised screening awareness through various community arenas.

In partnership with the school of nutrition at Ryerson University and the dietary risk factors working group of the Toronto Cancer Prevention Coalition, we conducted a needs assessment/survey related to healthy eating, physical activity and healthy body weight of women attending high-risk breast cancer clinics at Sunnybrook. This survey information is being used to develop programming, services and resources to meet the needs of the target group.
