Research & education

Sunnybrook is a teaching hospital, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. We are a major training centre for a variety of health professionals.

In addition to the clinical clerk and psychiatry resident, other trainees may also be involved in your care under the supervision of an experienced staff member. We greatly appreciate your co-operation and participation in the education of these future health professionals.

Trainee seminars

You may also be asked to volunteer in seminars that we provide for our trainees. The purpose of these seminars is to teach our trainees interviewing skills.

You would be interviewed for about 20-60 minutes, depending on the seminar. As the interview is solely for teaching purposes, it would have no influence on your treatment and would not be recorded. In recognition of your important educational contribution, we would be happy to provide you with a voucher for the Second Cup or cafeteria, both located in the hospital. Your participation is entirely voluntary.
