Senior Programmer Analyst (170322)

We currently have a regular full-time opportunity for a Senior Programmer Analyst in our Information Services department at our Bayview campus.

Summary of Duties:

The Information Management program strategy at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre focuses on providing tools and technologies that support easy access and exchange of information. The Application Developer will provide access to relevant, accurate, consistent and timely performance data to inform better decision making and actions. This position requires building IM applications and reporting to client business objectives, and deploying the appropriate IM applications, functions and enhancements to support user needs by utilizing standardized toolsets, technology and processes.

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Sunnybrook’s IM application portfolio, technical architecture, development tools and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and review of business and system requirements to obtain a thorough understanding of business needs in order to deliver accurate solutions.
  • Design, develop and test web based applications that fully implement the specified business requirements and are developed using industry/development best practices.
  • Produce technical documentation that accurately depicts the software design and code base.
  • Develop SQL queries and complex SQL joins, triggers and stored procedures.
  • Work as part of an application development team and participate in the analysis and resolution of issues related to information content, data integrity, and performance.
  • Create structured code for integration into larger systems, as well as documentation for ongoing maintenance in production environments.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Business System Analysts, Data Architects, and Database Developers
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on application development and database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of development efforts.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Computer Science or Engineering degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proven proficiency developing web applications using ASP NET and/or AngularJS
  • Development experience within SharePoint 2013 / SharePoint Online (PowerApps), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Experience with SharePoint 2013 (Enterprise) administration
  • Experience with MS SQL Server, SQL Server development, & T-SQL
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, C#/C++/VBA, AJAX/JSON, and JQuery
  • Experience with server-side scripting languages (e.g. ColdFusion, PHP, Python, Ruby)
  • Use of Team Foundation Server and GIT
  • Data warehousing experience, including an understanding of fundamental concepts, schemas, and models
  • Understanding of major RDBMS; including MS SQL, Oracle, & Access
  • Knowledge and experience with both Waterfall/SDLC and Agile development methodologies
  • Experience in a healthcare environment
  • Privacy and security concepts, as well as analytical abilities to work effectively with technical and business users
