2012 Rose Award recipients, |
Established in 2008, the Sunnybrook Rose Award is inspired by the spirit of compassion demonstrated by Alexandre and Jeannine, who immigrated to Canada after surviving the Second World War. Once in Canada, they were drawn to Sunnybrook’s legacy as a Veterans hospital and our transformation into a major academic health sciences centre.
The Raabs are avid horticulturalists and entrepreneurs. They carefully chose the hybrid tea rose for Sunnybrook after several years of testing and observation in the field. Just like our Rose Award winners, the Sunnybrook Rose displays qualities of sturdiness, elegance, and tremendous staying power in harsh conditions. The buds are a deep vibrant yellow that resist fading even when they are fully mature.
