"When a great man dies, for years the light he leaves behind him, lies on the paths of men." Longfellow With deepest thanks and remembrance for my grandfather, a WWII veteran and all those alongside him fighting for our freedoms.

How a flag helps

When you order a flag, your donation ensures that Canadian veterans have a place to receive the best care for their ongoing needs. Your gift of thanks honours their sacrifice and supports the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre.

Operation Raise a Flag is about sending messages of thanks to our veterans and supports Veterans Programs like our Veterans Comfort Fund. This fund helps ensure our resident heroes enjoy the best possible life experience by providing innovative equipment, continued learning opportunities, special outings and events, along with various social and arts activities to enhance their quality of life.

Will you be a hero today? With your compassionate donation, Sunnybrook can continue to give our heroes the best care. Order your flag today.

About Sunnybrook Veterans Centre

Sunnybrook officially opened in 1948 as a war veterans' hospital; a place to care for heroes. Today, as the largest veterans care facility in the country in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada, we are honoured to provide the best cognitive, physical, mental health, and stroke care to 473 Canadian veterans of the Second World War and Korean War.

The Sunnybrook Veterans Centre offers levels of care to meet the varying needs of our residents when those needs can no longer be met in the community. We provide the best care in our residences:

  • Kilgour Wing and George Hees Wing - where residents live as independently as possible within our supportive environment.
  • Palliative Care — a 32-bed unit, located in the Kilgour wing, where our team of palliative care experts provide compassionate, highest-quality, end-of-life care.
  • Dorothy Macham Home - a unique, 10-bed, residential-style home, offering a specially-designed environment for veterans facing the challenges of Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias.

Be a hero to our heroes.
