Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Introduction

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy is an operation done to remove your uterus (please see diagram below) through small incisions in your abdomen.

Your tubes and ovaries may or may not be removed at the time of hysterectomy. If you are premenopausal and your ovaries need to be removed, a condition called “surgical menopause” occurs. If this is the case, you may experience menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.  Be sure to speak to your doctor about various ways to cope with menopausal symptoms.
