Traffic & construction notice for Wellesley St W

The City of Toronto will be reconstructing the road and sidewalks, and completing cycling and traffic signal improvements on Wellesley Street West from Yonge Street to Queen’s Park Crescent West.

The City of Toronto will also be reconstructing the road on Queen’s Park Crescent.

This project is part of the 2014 Capital Construction Program.

This work will take place on Wellesley Street West from Queen's Park Crescent West to Yonge Street and on Queen's Park Crescent from College Street to Bloor Street West.

There will be pedestrian and traffic restrictions during this project.

Construction Details:

Wellesley Street West: July 21, 2014 to December 2014
Work includes:

  • Road and sidewalk reconstruction
  • Separated bike lane construction
  • Watermain service transfer
  • Traffic signal improvements

Traffic restrictions: One lane of traffic in the eastbound direction at all times. Westbound traffic will be closed during construction.

Staff Shuttle passengers: The shuttle will be required to take an alternate route during construction and will likely experience delays. Thank you for your patience.

Queen’s Park Crescent: July 21, 2014 to Sept. 22, 2014
Work includes:

  • Road resurfacing and sidewalk reconstruction
  • Reconfiguration of the Hoskin Avenue and Queen’s Park Crescent intersection, including separated bike lane construction from Hoskin Avenue to Wellesley Street West.

Traffic restrictions: minimum of two lanes of traffic at all times on a one-way section of Queen’s Park Crescent.

Work Hours:
Work will typically take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday. Work after hours and during weekends may take place as necessary.

TTC Service:
TTC Service will be maintained during construction. However, service disruptions, bus stop relocations and routing changes will occur, particularly for the westbound Wellesley Street bus route. Please visit ttc.ca for information.
