Sunnybrook celebrates Nursing Week

May 11, 2015

Nursing Week (May 11 to 17) is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the significant contribution and impact nurses are making in the lives of individuals, their families and the health care system.

This year’s national theme — "Nurses: With you every step of the way" — is particularly well suited for nurses here at Sunnybrook where more than 3,000 nurses provide compassionate care to patients and their families along the entire continuum, from acute illness or injury through to recovery or end of life.

As part of a health care system that increasingly requires efficiency with care and cost, it becomes even more important to match clinical skills with passion and empathy. Our nurses embrace person-centered care in its truest form, nurturing important relationships with patients and their families seven days a week, 24 hours a day. They comfort, console and guide patients through some of life’s most difficult experiences.

Sunnybrook nurses, in both direct clinical and formal leadership roles, are part of a collaborative team of health care professionals who are dedicated to excellence in care, research and education. They are recognized locally, provincially and nationally as skilled, knowledgeable leaders who are transforming health care systems.

We are proud and inspired by the commitment of our nurses to lead in innovation, adopt new and evolving practices, and provide meaningful individualized care when it matters most.

Thank you for your contributions and dedication to our patients and their families.
