PET/CT Imaging Symposium and Workshop
June 6-7, 2002 - London, Ontario
At an incidence rate of 20%, ischemic heart disease accounts for the highest percentage of deaths among Canadians. For the accurate diagnosis, selection of treatment options and follow-up of treatments, new imaging methods are constantly being developed to non-invasively determine the patency of coronary blood vessels, left ventricular function, regional myocardial perfusion and metabolic activities. With the increasing numbers of patients developing significant left ventricular dysfunction, the assessment of residual myocardial viability becomes of paramount importance. Regional and global left ventricular function will improve in response to revascularization if viability can be demonstrated. This two-day symposium and workshop focuses on the application of the recently introduced hybrid PET/CT scanner to these important diagnostic tasks in ischemic heart disease. A panel of experts is invited to speak on the following topics:
- coronary artery imaging, evaluation of regional wall motion and ejection fraction;
- myocardial perfusion imaging; and
- metabolic imaging of the myocardium, and assessment of myocardial viability.
The topics of this symposium and workshop are expected to be of interest to cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, research scientists in imaging and vascular biology, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, and CT and nuclear medicine technologists.
