Infrastructure
Infrastructure grants are, typically, large-scale institutional awards used to purchase research equipment and build laboratories and research facilities. The table lists the main funding programs for infrastructure.
In Canada, the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is the main funding body for research infrastructure. For all of its programs, the CFI requires its contribution to be matched; it will provide up to 40% of approved project costs, with the remaining amount to be contributed by eligible partners.
Because these awards are institutional, and funding from the agency must be matched, all potential proposals are reviewed by the Research Executive Committee at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI). Only the most competitive proposals will be submitted.
