Research Summary:

Dr. Holloway's research is focused on the following areas:

    Application of 3-D histological evaluation techniques to breast surgery

    This work involved the development of a new method to evaluate breast surgical specimens and quantify the improved measurement accuracy of important pathological features using this approach.

      Population-based studies

      A variety of studies using in-house and provincial databases are ongoing. These studies address such diverse questions as the use of minimally invasive diagnostic techniques to determine indications for breast surgery and define surgical approaches, factors influencing the application of evidence-based guidelines to clinical practice, and the impact of individualized surgical decision-making on patient outcome.

        Evaluation of the diagnostic pathway in breast cancer

        This work involves population-based retrospective studies, qualitative research and prospective interventions aimed at facilitating the uptake of minimally invasive diagnostic techniques into clinical practice and developing approaches to improve the timeliness and accuracy of diagnostic evaluation.
