Research Summary:

Dr. Strauss is involved in the following research studies:

  • Importance of extracellular matrix proteins in the vessel wall response to injury
  • Role of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and elastases in vessel wall repair
  • New approaches to inhibiting collagen synthesis and accumulation after balloon angioplasty and stenting
  • Angiographic restenosis after human stenting and lasers, and new risk factors for restenosis
  • Novel approach to performing angioplasty in chronic total occlusions
