Audiology services
Audiology services provides diagnostic and rehabilitative services to adults with hearing loss and/or tinnitus (noises in the ears or head).
Our services include:
- Comprehensive hearing assessments
Various tests are done to determine the degree, type and nature of the patient's hearing loss. - Auditory brainstem response testing
Electrodes are placed on the head and loud clicks are presented to the ears through a spongy insert tip. The electrodes measure the brain’s response to sounds. Please note: we do not perform sedated ABRs or threshold ABRs. - Otoacoustic emissions test
An otoacoustic emission (OAE) is a very soft sound that is generated by the inner ear. OAE testing measures whether or not you are generating OAEs and to what extent. A spongy tip is placed in the ear canal, a few tones of various pitches are played and the responses are recorded and sent to a computer for analysis. - Hearing aid evaluations and prescriptions
Your audiologist will ask questions to determine how much your hearing problem impacts your day-to-day and the lives of your family. The audiologist will then help you choose the best hearing aid(s) style, features and level of technology based on your degree of hearing loss, lifestyle and financial circumstances. - Hearing aid follow ups: verification and validation
Your audiologist will test your hearing aids using specialized equipment to make sure they are performing at their best, and that you are able to hear well with your hearing aids on. Your hearing aids can be fine-tuned if you are having difficulty hearing in certain situations. - Tinnitus workshop
A one-time group educational session (3 hours long) that provides information to help you understand and manage your tinnitus. - One-on-one tinnitus counselling sessions
An hour-long, informal session with an audiologist that will address your specific questions regarding your tinnitus. - Virtual hearing aid services
The Virtual Hearing Care service is available to patients with hearing aids that require adjustments. Through this virtual service, patients can have their hearing aids checked and adjusted remotely by an audiologist via their smartphone. Patients have the option of coming to the clinic in-person, if preferred.
Referral process
A physician's referral is needed to access these services. After your referral is received, the audiology services receptionist will contact you to set up a hearing assessment. Hearing assessments and other diagnostic tests are covered by OHIP, but a fee will be charged for all other appointments.

All of our audiologists are registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
