Who can attend: Anyone experiencing chronic pain. Must have access to computer and internet. SAFHT Patients Only.
This online workshop (5-week long, 2hr per week) is focused on supporting those experiencing chronic pain by providing education, developing skills, increasing community support and improving confidence for self-management of chronic pain.
Each session is divided into different themes (Mind, Body, and Social). These sessions will include an educational component, learning practical skills/ strategies/ techniques, community resources, and other supplementary material based on each theme. Interprofessional healthcare providers will be involved in the group (Pharmacists, Social Workers, Yoga Therapist, Dietitians, etc.). Additionally, this group has a strong emphasis on goals, preparation, planning, and connection to other resources.
Evidenced-based techniques to help manage chronic pain will be introduced such as:
- Relaxation techniques
- Visualization
- Guided imagery
- Pleasant activity scheduling
- Activity-rest cycling
- Meditation and mindfulness
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques
- Goal setting
- and more
