With over 30 years of management experience, Beverley believes in supporting ongoing education for service providers, interpreters, and the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. She raised awareness and promoted skills in areas such as Deaf culture and community, communication access, rights of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, and leadership.

Since March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, CHS Interpreting Services has offered over 200 webinars and Lunch & Learn events and continues to do so.

On a personal note, Beverley is originally from the small bay of Bonavista, Newfoundland. She currently resides in Whitby, Ontario. She has 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. During her spare time, she enjoys reading books, cooking, baking, and spending quality time with her family and close friends.

Melanie Baine (Presenting on Technology for Deaf and Hard of Hearing)

Melanie Baine is the Ontario Account Manager at Canadian Hearing Services.

Melanie is responsible for supporting organizations, businesses and government with removing barriers to communication for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, with a concentrated focus on healthcare. She has been with the organization for 15 years, first starting out working in our retail store (vibrating alarm clocks, TV amplification systems) and then continuing to work with our school board program, installing FM and Soundfield systems in classrooms across Ontario to support students with hearing loss and auditory challenges. Melanie is hard of hearing herself, and her lived experience allows her to understand the unique communication challenges hard of hearing individuals are faced with on a day to day basis, with proposed solutions.

Melanie moved from Toronto to Hamilton a little over a year ago, and just finished renovating a basement apartment. She loves gardening, interior design, making candles, being on the water, chocolate, spending time with her niece and nephew, and hiking with her dog, Cooper.
