Help shape the way health-care education is delivered

We are looking for patients and caregivers to join our Sunnybrook Education Research and Scholarship Grant Review Committee, to review the annual proposal submissions to our grant competition and help choose the successful recipients of the supportive funds.

Partner role:

Provide feedback and advice on the proposals received that are related to research initiatives or improvements to clinician, student or patient education. Patient and family partners will be asked to review each proposal with three primary questions in mind:

  1. Is the topic relevant to or will it have impact on the patient/family experience, care or outcome?
  2. Does the design or overall plan engage patients and/or families?
  3. Any ideas that you would like to share with the fellows/teams on what they should consider as they move forward with this work from the patient/family perspective?

  • Attend a 1-hour meeting with the Director of the Education Research Unit prior to review to go over the proposals and what is required (projected to be December 2019)
  • Review up to 10 proposals with a specific question in mind
  • Provide feedback on each proposal
  • Attend a 3-hour adjudication meeting to determine the successful recipients of the grant (projected to be January 2020).
  • Advise and recommend improvements to quality of care and experience

*Note: Prior research experience and/or scientific experience is not required. Participant parking or TTC fare will be reimbursed.
