Treatment Policies

Please find below complete sections of our Odette Cancer Treatment Policy Book, 5th Edition. Each file is available in PDF format.

This book is not designed to be a comprehensive textbook, but is designed to summarize how our Centre treats patients with hematologic malignancies and related disorders as well as providing a summary of the relevant data. The objectives of this project are to:

  • To ensure that therapy offered within the site group is current, evidence-based and is consistent with Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) evidence-based guidelines
  • To ensure that patients are treated consistently by members of the site group
  • To serve as a reference for referring physicians
  • To serve as an educational tool for residents and fellows

We have tried to ensure our policies are evidence-based and consistent with the Cancer Care Ontario clinical practice guidelines. In many cases, however, there is no single best treatment option. In such cases we have selected one option out of many to be our standard practice. Updates are listed at the top of each policy along with the date of last modification. We have also included an abstract section at the beginning, which is a brief listing of our standard therapy for the most common diseases. We have reviewed all chemotherapy regimens (Appendix B) and included references, where applicable for most regimens, but encourage you to double-check doses with the reference source material.
