Help us improve the post-op care experience

Have you had emergency general surgery (e.g., appendix, gallbladder, colon, bowel, stoma, abscess) at Sunnybrook after being admitted through the Emergency Department? We are seeking Patient and Family Partners with lived experience to help develop a tool for improving post-operative care.

Commitment

Stage 1: Experience Based Approach/Design (EBD)

We will identify key emotions and experiences along each step of the care pathway for patients accessing ambulatory care services.

  • Number of Patient Partners: 5
  • Type of meeting: in-person
  • Number of meetings: 1
  • Length of meeting: 3 hours
  • Follow up: Via email to give participants a summary of the event and allow to provide future comments

Stage 2: Development of a post-operative tool (e.g. an app) to improve the patient experience.

  • Number of Patients: 2
  • Type of meeting: in-person and email feedback regarding Partner perspective on design and usability.
  • Number of meetings: 12 (initial design, follow up meetings on usability)
  • Length of meeting: 1 hour each (future usability may be 30 minutes)
  • Timeline: 1 year
  • Follow up: via email to follow up on action items
