Cardiology Non-Invasive Lab

Overview

Each beat of your heart is triggered by an electrical impulse normally generated from special cells in the upper right chamber of your heart. Our Cardiology Non-Invasive Lab uses a variety of tests, such as electrocardiograms (ECG), holter monitoring, and exercise stress testing that record how your heart beats. These patterns help your cardiologist to diagnose various heart conditions, such as arrhythmias and ischemia.

What we do

  • Holter Monitoring
  • Exercise Stress Testing
  • Electrocardiogram, also called an ECG*

These tests are non-invasive and painless, and may help to diagnose many common types of heart problems including:

  • Irregularities in your heart rhythm (arrhythmias)
  • Heart defects
  • Problems with your heart's valves
  • Ischemia: Blocked or narrowed arteries in your heart
  • A heart attack, in emergency situations
  • A previous heart attack

*Please note: To receive an ECG at Sunnybrook, you must have a referral from a Sunnybrook physician.
