Patient and Community Engagement

There has been an unprecedented level of patient and community engagement in the development of this plan.

From September 2017 to May 2018, we engaged extensively with people who rely on Sunnybrook for care, those who work and volunteer at the hospital, and with our partners in the community. We owe a debt of gratitude to the more than 1,000 voices that provided the critical underpinnings for discussion at each stage of the planning cycle.

A number of themes consistently emerged from our conversations. Stakeholders told us our plan should focus on improving access to specialized services, make the patients’ transition from hospital seamless, find new and innovative ways to keep patients and families informed and involved in their care, and improve communication between patients and their care teams. These themes have shaped the direction of our plan.
