Patient Administrative Associate - 6 East - Regular Part Time  (220522)

We currently have a Regular Part Time opportunity for an Patient Administrative Associate in the 6 East department at Holland Campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekday: Days, 8hrs; as per schedule

Weekend: Days, 8 hrs; as per schedule

Statutory Holidays Required

Summary of Duties

Responsible for providing administrative, clerical and secretarial support to the nursing units by:

  • Assisting in coordinating nursing unit activities;
  • Coordinating patient admission/discharge/transfer;
  • Liaising with both internal and external customers;
  • Responding to telephone and reception inquires for both internal and external customers;
  • Assumes other responsibilities and duties as required.


  • Successful completion of secondary school required;
  • Post-secondary business/secretarial courses;
  • Successful completion of SHSC PAA training;
  • Computer/typing skills including Windows and MS Word are required;
  • Keyboarding at 40 w.p.m. or 106 n.k.p.m.;
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a busy Nursing Unit preferably in a hospital/health care environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and diplomacy while providing excellent customer service;
  • People person with strong verbal and written communication skills, customer focused, with attention to detail;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals;
  • Excellent organizational skills.
