ECG Technician – Remote Monitoring Program - Schulich Heart Centre: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit - Regular Full-time (221197)

We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for an ECG Technician – Remote Monitoring Program in the Schulich Heart Centre: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at our Bayview campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekdays & Alternating Weekends: Days; 12hrs; As per schedule

Statutory Holidays required

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an ECG tech to join our Remote Monitoring Program. As an ECG tech, you will have the opportunity to work with other acute care wards to monitor patient’s ECG waveforms from a centralized monitoring station within the Cardiac ICU.

Summary of Duties:

  • Perform surveillance of multiple patients and recognize abnormal findings.
  • Recognize, intervene, report and document abnormal findings during monitoring.
  • Perform clerical task as needed.
  • Observe, document and report baseline ECG rhythms, trends and changes.
  • Print, measure and interpret ECG rhythm strips on admission and Q4H in response to alarm events and when required.
  • Prepare documentation of new admissions and discharges of patients.
  • Hand over oral and written report of all active monitoring cases to the incoming shift (Nurse / ECG Tech).
  • Replenish supplies in your monitoring station during your shift.
  • Contact Biomed to test and keep equipment in working condition as needed.


  • Certification and current membership in good standing with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologist or equivalent.
  • Basic Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience.
  • Current BCLS.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well independently and in multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and take appropriate action.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Completion of a physical assessment course an asset
