Division of Psychiatry, Sunnybrook Research Institute

Status: Temporary full time position

JOB OVERVIEW

The Sunnybrook Research Institute, Department of Psychiatry, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking a full time, temporary research assistant/ psychometrist.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology, or neuroscience. Preference will be given to those with experience administering cognitive tests and to those with experience working with individuals with cognitive difficulties. You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to cope in stressful situations. You will need to be able to work independently and professionally, as well as in a team environment. You will need to be dependable, have strong problem solving skills, accurate and detail oriented. You will also need to have the ability to prioritize your workload and the flexibility to adjust to changing work plans, schedules, and deadlines. You need to be self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to show initiative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interact with patients or research participants with multiple sclerosis
  • Assist with patient screening, recruitment, obtaining consent, scheduling subject appointments, handling necessary paperwork, and doing data entry
  • Conduct and score neuropsychological tests, including computerized testing and questionnaires
  • Maintain research databases which include patient demographics, clinical, neuropsychological, etc.
  • Assist with research ethics submission, grant applications, ordering supplies, conducting literature searches, manuscript submissions
  • Ability to enter large datasets into internal database with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Expert in Microsoft word, PowerPoint and SPSS
  • Attend and participate in project-related meetings, including research team meeting
  • Assist with other research-related activities as needed
