Join the Leaders at Sunnybrook Centre for Prehospital Medicine Education Faculty (ACP & PCP) Sunnybrook Centre for Prehospital Medicine, Regional Base Hospital Program is responsible for providing medical oversight through certification, recertification, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement to approximately 3,000 paramedics who are employed by the following services:

Beausoleil First Nation Paramedic Services

County of Simcoe Paramedic Services

Halton Region Paramedic Services

Muskoka Paramedic Services

Peel Regional Paramedic Services

Rama First Nation Paramedic Services

Toronto Paramedic Services

We are looking for outstanding self-motivated Advanced Care Paramedics (preferred) and Primary Care Paramedics for the role of Education Faculty. As faculty, you will have the opportunity to assist in the development and facilitation of a variety of educational events including CME, return to practice, Ministry of Health (MOH) equivalency process and certification events. Education faculty also performs an integral role in the continuous quality improvement process by auditing ACRs/EPCRs. Sunnybrook is committed to providing professional development opportunities to the Education Faculty members.

This position is classified as casual.

Summary of Duties

  • Assist in the development and delivery of Base Hospital programs such as CME, return to practice, MOH regional training programs, certification events, maintenance of certification and
  • Assist with the delivery of remedial education where
  • Review and submit suggestions to improve all educational
  • Ensure the competency and skills of paramedics and other
  • Ensure that paramedics receive feedback related to clinical performance following each session
  • Facilitate an objective feedback mechanism for paramedics regarding the knowledge translation delivery
  • Oversee data collection and distribution for approved educational research programs. Advise appropriate Coordinator or Manager of Paramedic Practice regarding program improvement opportunities in the area of knowledge
  • Attend all Sunnybrook Base Hospital mandatory faculty training, including instructor training sessions, faculty development sessions and other meetings as necessary.
  • Liaise with the paramedic services, paramedics, receiving hospitals, allied agencies, the medical community, and other stakeholders to assist with the program
  • Perform clinical audits of ACRs/EPCRs as part of the continuous quality improvement process as

Qualifications/Skills

ACP Applicant

  • Advanced EMCA certificate,
  • Ministry of Health Advanced Care Paramedic certificate, and
  • Current or previous certification as an ACP in Ontario or

PCP Applicant

  • Advanced EMCA certificate, and
  • Current or previous certification as PCP in Ontario or

All Applicants

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a paramedic,
  • Proven interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, self-direction, and organizational skills,
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral,
  • Ability to function effectively both independently, and within a team environment, and
  • Effective time management

Preferred

  • University Degree
  • Experience in adult education
  • Experience in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge in Audio/ Visual equipment operation
  • Familiar with Low/mid fidelity simulation devices operation (rhythm generator, skill trainers, etc.)
