Event info

This may be the only event where leaving with another woman's purse is encouraged. The Old Bags Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Arcadian Court in downtown Toronto.

The event offers women the opportunity to bid on gently-used designer purses in support of Sunnybrook's Women & Babies Program.

The past three luncheons have raised a total of over $280,000.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre provides the most advanced care for the province's tiniest patients.

Through your support we will continue to provide staff with the resources and leading edge-equipment needed to deliver the very best care for high-risk mothers, babies and women of all ages and stages of life.

Our cause

Sunnybrook is a leader in caring for the province's tiniest patients and their mothers:

  • Our new Women & Babies facility, which opened in September 2010, delivers 4,250 babies per year – including 20 per cent of all infants in Ontario weighing less than 3 lbs.

  • Sunnybrook's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is the newest and most modern Level III facility in the country. It is also the only NICU in Canada with 100 per cent single rooms.

  • Our High Risk Obstetrical Unit cares for women who have pregnancy complications and require inpatient care. One in four women delivering at Sunnybrook experiences a high-risk pregnancy and Sunnybrook has an international reputation for providing these women with exceptional treatment.

  • The Neonatal Follow-Up Program helps families through the transition of caring for their babies as they leave the NICU and continues to track their progress until the age of six. At other hospitals, follow-up care for preemies typically ends at age two.

  • Sunnybrook is a leading partner in the Global Obstetrics Network (GONet), an international group of physician researchers who perform clinical trials in maternal fetal medicine and obstetrics. This collaborative network will give our patients access to life-saving medical knowledge from around the world.

  • With donor support Sunnybrook aims to install an MRI scanner in the NICU to perform advanced neuroimaging on our tiniest patients. This equipment would make Sunnybrook the third NICU in the world with such capabilities.
