Congestive Heart Failure

Signs and Symptoms

The failing heart may cause:

  • The brain from receiving enough blood, making you tired and depressed.
  • Your lungs may fill up with fluid, making it more difficult to breathe (with or without activity).
  • Your kidneys to work less efficiently, so that the body retains salt and water. This causes sudden weight gain (two pounds over 2 days or 5 pounds in one week).
  • Your ankles and feet to become swollen with pooling fluid.

These are only some of the signs and symptoms associated with CHF. Speak to your health care professional for further information.
