  • Most common cause is a blood clot, which may narrow or completely block the blood from reaching the heart muscle and the part of the muscle that usually receives
  • Blood from the blocked artery is then damaged
  • Damage may be irreversible and if heart is permanently damaged, the heart may not pump blood as well as it had previously
