Kidney Care Centre: construction update

September 24, 2014

Sunnybrook's Kidney Care Centre provides excellent care to our patients, both in hospital and within the community. Our many innovations continue to benefit the quality of life for our patients living with kidney disease, but we are currently hampered by lack of space and dated facilities at our Bayview Campus.

Fortunately, construction has started on our new Kidney Care Centre, which will be located at the CNIB at 1929 Bayview Avenue. In the fall of 2015, we will start to see patients at this site. This 28,250 square foot space, just half a kilometre away from Sunnybrook’s Bayview Campus, will feature 24 treatment stations, home dialysis training space, ample clinic space and supportive infrastructure for research. Sunnybrook will continue to treat higher-needs patients at our Bayview Campus.

Sunnybrook's Kidney Care Centre will continue to serve a large area of Toronto, with over 100 patients visiting the clinic each day from Monday to Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. for hemodialysis, for training to perform home dialysis or to attend any number of kidney care and specialty clinics running daily.

We are well poised for the move to the new space at CNIB and are looking forward to caring for our patients in the new modern facilities.
