Sunnybrook mourns the loss of Dianne Chin

April 11, 2020

Sunnybrook regrets to share that, Dianne Chin, Environmental Services Supervisor, passed away on Friday, April 10 at her home, due to complications of COVID-19. She was 59 years old.

For nearly 40 years, Dianne was a dedicated member of the Sunnybrook team. She will be missed dearly.

Sunnybrook’s entire team is saddened with this loss and we are working with those who worked with and knew Dianne to provide them with appropriate support at this time.

While respecting the family’s privacy at this time, we can share that Dianne contracted the illness through a personal connection and not while at work. She was diagnosed with the virus following testing in the Sunnybrook Assessment Centre on March 29. Anyone who may have been in contact with Dianne at Sunnybrook has been screened appropriately and is at home observing proper precautions.

Throughout her career at Sunnybrook, Dianne developed and led many training and educational initiatives for Environmental Services staff. Her work helped develop the Environmental Services Team into a highly respected and sought after team for advice about proper methods of disinfection to reduce the spread of infections. She committed her work life to ensuring the safety of others.
