Sunnybrook neuroradiologist appointed to Order of Ontario

Sunnybrook physician Dr. Allan Fox has been named to the Order of Ontario, the province’s highest official honour that recognizes individual excellence and achievement in any field.

Dr. Fox, a neuroradiologist in the Department of Medical Imaging since 2001 (honorary since 2014), has influenced the science of neuroradiology in Canada and around the world, including how diseases of the brain are diagnosed and treated. He is a founding member of of the Canadian Society of Neuroradiology, the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology, and spearheaded the subspecialty training of neuroradiology for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Fox was among the first doctors in Canada to treat a brain aneurysm with detachable aneurysm coils, which today has become a standard-of-care procedure.

Dr. Fox is among 47 appointees for the 2019 and 2020 honours announced on January 1, 2021.
