Two years of the President’s Anti-Racism Taskforce (PART)

December 16, 2022

The President’s Anti-Racism Taskforce (PART) recently marked its two-year anniversary. It was established in 2020 to focus on producing tangible and visible results that will have a broad impact as we work toward dismantling racism in healthcare.

The membership, made up of staff from across the hospital, Foundation and Research Institute, has been working diligently toward making Sunnybrook an anti-racist institution.

“I’m tremendously proud of the work of the President’s Anti-Racism Taskforce and the impact they are making,” says Dr. Andy Smith, President and CEO. “From establishing an anti-Black racism training module to ensuring careful and thoughtful demographic data collection for patients and staff to providing input on hiring practices and so much more, this very active committee of highly dedicated staff and community members demonstrates their commitment to dismantling racism and making changes within the healthcare system each and every day.”

Following the LEAP Framework, PART has developed and is implementing an action plan with specific measures to combat racism and ensure Sunnybrook is an inclusive organization for our staff and partners, our Black, Indigenous, and racialized clients, and all communities we serve. LEAP includes:

  • Leadership and Accountability
  • Education and Training
  • Actionable Data
  • People and Teams
