Sunnybrook at the forefront of national dementia research

Sunnybrook researchers and clinicians are playing key roles in the largest dementia research network in the country as it embarks on its second phase.

The Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging (CCNA) recently received funding of over $46 million from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and other partner organizations, including the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

It’s estimated there are more than half a million Canadians living with dementia, with 25,000 cases diagnosed each year. CCNA was established in 2014 and has connected Canada’s dementia research community to collaborate across disciplines to investigate the complexities and treatment of age-related cognitive decline and dementia.
