A creative contender

July 8, 2015

A Sunnybrook Research Institute spinoff from the lab of Dr. Anne Martel, Pathcore, has been selected as a semi-finalist in the Globe and Mail’s fifth annual small business challenge. Underpinning Pathcore is software that enables pathologists to detect disease like cancer more accurately and consistently. It also helps pathologists located the world over collaborate more easily. It is a partner in SRI’s large-scale image-guided therapy cluster, which was recently awarded $20 million by FedDev Ontario, matched by up to $21 million from industry partners, through FedDev Ontario’s Investing in Commercialization Partnerships initiative. Martel’s spinoff was one of five companies selected from among 3,300 hopefuls.
