Inaugural SRI Research Day highlights leading research across all platforms

June 12, 2024

The first-ever Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) Research Day, hosted by the SRI Student Network (SSN) on June 10th, showcased leading research from scientists, trainees and students across SRI’s biological, physical and evaluative clinical sciences platforms. From the implications of social media on youth mental health, to the use of focused ultrasound (FUS) to open the blood-brain barrier, the day was a celebration of SRI’s role in inventing the future of health care.

Researchers, staff and learners had the chance to attend engaging keynote presentations from SRI scientists Dr. Juan Carlos Zúñiga-Pflücker, Dr. Wilder Scott, Dr. Iacovos Michael, Dr. Bojana Stefanovic, Dr. Chenxi Qian, Dr. Christine Démoré, Dr. Yana Yunusova, Dr. Amy Yu and Dr. Rachel Mitchell, and hear remarks from Dr. Kullervo Hynynen, Vice-President, Research and Innovation at Sunnybrook.

The day also provided opportunities for students and trainees to present oral presentations to showcase their work, participate in a poster competition, and share their knowledge with other researchers and learners. This year, four students were awarded prizes for their oral and poster presentations. Congratulations to the award recipients of the inaugural SRI Research Day!
