Sunnybrook News - June 12th, 2008

Sunnybrook officially opened its doors as the largest veterans' hospital in the country on June 12, 1948 and retains this distinction today. On June 5, to kick off special anniversary celebrations, Sunnybrook welcomed His Royal Highness, The Prince Edward to the Therapeutic Garden of the Veterans Residence was renamed in his honour. Veteran war heroes came to meet His Royal Highness, the Honorable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and The Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada, His Honour, Gregory Thompson and other special guests. An article on radiation oncologist Dr. Vera Peters is also included, outlining her impact on cancer care and research and the Peters-Boyd Academy of Sunnybrook. More award-winning Sunnybrook staff are featured.

Sunnybrook News - May 28th, 2008

To recognize Speech and Hearing month, Sunnybrook News features an article that outlines some common symptoms of hearing loss and information on services available at Sunnybrook's Audiology Services clinic. In recognition of  Sunnybrook's 60th anniversary, there is a story about Dr. William Boyd, renowned teacher and writer, as well as a story on the development of hospital programs in the 1980s including the opening of the Toronto Bayview Regional Cancer Clinic, which is now the Odette Cancer Centre. Many of our award-winning staff members are also featured.
