Robotics & Image-Guided Surgery in Canada

Wednesday, October 12, 2022 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Canada is home to numerous initiatives in surgical robotics and image-guided therapy innovations, which have the potential to transform the healthcare system and practice. In this lecture hosted by INOVAIT, Cameron Piron will discuss latest trends and opportunities in the area of image-guided robotic interventions and image-guided therapy tools for minimally invasive procedures. Cameron will give an overview on the commercialized work of Synaptive Medical in the area of surgical robotics, and will discuss opportunities that exist for these technologies, and the challenges in bringing these technologies to market.

About INOVAIT: INOVAIT is a pan-Canadian network funded by the Government of Canada and hosted at the Sunnybrook Research Institute with the objective of building a truly integrated image-guided therapy ecosystem, fueling continuous innovation that revolutionizes healthcare globally. Through connecting, educating, and investing in the industry’s brightest minds and most promising ventures, INOVAIT will support and encourage collaborative development and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into medical technologies.
