What are the responsibilities of participants in clinical trials?

If you decide to participate in a study, then you may be asked to do the following:

  • undergo tests to assess if you qualify for the study;
  • attend one or more study visits (appointments);
  • undergo one or more procedures or tests;
  • complete one or more questionnaires;
  • participate in one or more focus groups (small groups of representative people who are asked by a moderator to speak about their opinions as part of research); or
  • participate in one or more interviews.

Before you decide to participate in a study, you should understand what is being asked of you, and be realistic about your ability to follow the study procedures.
