Sunnybrook awarded for iLead Quality & Patient Safety Program

October 26, 2015

We are pleased to announce that our iLead Quality & Patient Safety Program has been awarded the Canadian Patient Safety Institute’s (CPSI) fifth annual Innovations in Patient Safety Education Award.

The Innovations in Patient Safety Education Award recognizes organizations, groups or individuals that demonstrate exemplary practices in patient safety education and quality improvement work using the Patient Safety Education Program (PSEP) – Canada program.

As the winners of this prestigious award, Sunnybrook has been publicly acknowledged and profiled on the CPSI website.

Our iLead Quality & Patient Safety Program has won the organization level award, for its focus on providing quality and patient safety improvement knowledge and skills to frontline staff of all professions.

Key elements of the iLead program include two full certificate programs (fundamental and advanced), standard project tools, project consultations, access to an iLead Data Portal to monitor improvements and more.

The iLead Quality & Patient Safety Program certificate courses were developed internally using concepts from CPSI’s PSEP – Canada curriculum, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School, Vital Smarts and other sources. Many courses were developed in partnership with Organizational Development, and also align with the Sunnybrook Leadership Institute.

We are very proud to have received recognition from the Canadian Patient Safety Institute for our efforts to enhance our culture of safety. We are equally proud of all the frontline staff who demonstrated such passion and energy in the iLead courses and who have gone on to lead and support great improvements on their units or in their service areas.
