Dr. Amy Yu receives American Academy of Neurology Award

February 22, 2022

Congratulations to Dr. Amy Yu, Sunnybrook stroke neurologist, who has been awarded the American Academy of Neurology’s (AAN) 2022 Michael S. Pessin Stroke Leadership Prize.

According to the AAN, the prize is awarded to 'emerging neurologists who have a strong interest in, and have demonstrated a passion for, learning and expanding the field of stroke research.'

The last time a Canadian female stroke researcher won the award was in 2010.

“I am grateful to the AAN for the honour of receiving this prize in stroke leadership and share this distinction with my colleagues, mentors, and students,” says Dr. Yu. “I feel privileged to pursue excellence in stroke research that could help improve the treatment, care, and outcomes for patients in the future.”

Dr. Yu’s research focuses on advancing the field of women’s brain health and developing new tools for population-based stroke health services research and surveillance.

Dr. Yu will receive the award in April at the 2022 AAN Annual Meeting in Seattle.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Yu!
