Dr. Sophie Grigoriadis is Head of the Women's Mood and Anxiety Clinic: Reproductive Transitions in the Department of Psychiatry at Sunnybrook since 2011. She completed her medical degree from McMaster University in 1997 and subsequently her postgraduate training in psychiatry in 2002. She had already completed a Masters and PhD degrees in psychology, clinical program, at Queens University, Kingston. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, in the Divisions of Brain and Therapeutics (Mood and Anxiety Disorders) and Equity, Gender and Population (Women’s Mental Health) University of Toronto; Scientist, Sunnybrook Research Institute and the Fellowship Director in the Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Grigoriadis’ clinical research program focuses on the phenomenology and treatment of mood disorders in women across the reproductive life stages. She studies both pharmacological and psychotherapy interventions to determine and promote evidence-based treatment options. She has published extensively and received international awards for her work.

Dr. Grigoriadis served as the MDMSA’s Treasurer (July 2014-2016); Secretary (July 2016-2018); Vice-President (July 2018-2019).

Dr. Grigoriadis joined the Board of Directors of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in June 2018 following her appointment as the Vice President, Medical-Dental Midwifery Staff Association. In July 2019 Dr. Grigoriadis was appointed President of the Medical-Dental Midwifery Staff Association.
