Research Summary:

Dr. Poon is leading a multi-institutional study supported by the Ontario Institute of Cancer Research. The study seeks to individualize radiation treatment using intra-treatment, dynamic, fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) scanning in advanced head and neck cancer. He is also leading a cross-discipline initiative to use 3-D reconstructed whole surgical specimens to correlate the gross tumour volume with pre-operative computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and PET in head and neck cancer as well as to define definitively the microscopic tumour volume.
