Research Summary:

Dr. Rose holds the TD Nursing Professorship in Critical Care Research. She is an associate professor at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg faculty of nursing at the University of Toronto. She has also been recognized with a Canadian Institutes of Health Research new investigator award.

Dr. Rose completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne. There, she examined mechanical ventilation and weaning practices across Australia and New Zealand and conducted a randomized controlled trial on the automated weaning system, SmartCare/PS. She has a research program focused on improving outcomes for mechanically ventilated patients in diverse settings, including the intensive care unit, emergency department, specialized weaning centre, long-term care and the community.

She has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and frequently speaks at international scientific meetings. Dr. Rose is also the research director for the Provincial Centre of Weaning Excellence at Michael Garron Hospital, and the co-founder of the CANuVENT group. With more than 20 years of experience in clinical nursing, she has worked in various critical care settings and in four countries.
