Innovation in burn research

Dr. Marc Jeschke is working with researchers at the University of Toronto to make a “skin printer.” This technology may one day be used to make customized skin to repair major burns and wounds. Normally, doctors harvest skin from elsewhere on the patient’s body to cover the burn. In contrast, the Bioprinter makes new skin made from the patient’s skin cells that can be grafted over the wound.
