Dr. Imrie: new Royal College President-Elect

Dr. Kevin Imrie, Sunnybrook's Physician-in-Chief, has been chosen as the new President-Elect of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

A clinical hematologist and professor of medicine, Dr. Imrie is also the Vice-Chair, Education for the University of Toronto's Department of Medicine, overseeing the continuum of medical education. He will assume the President-Elect position immediately.

The Royal College sets the standards for postgraduate medical education, supports continuing professional development of its members, and shapes health system innovations nationwide.

A dedicated physician and medical educator, Dr. Imrie has served in a number of leadership capacities, including Vice-President of Education with the Royal College and Director of Postgraduate Programs and Associate Dean, Admission and Evaluation in Postgraduate Medicine for the University of Toronto. He is also a "peer surveyor" with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and has helped lead a wide variety of other health care organizations across Canada.
