This Sacred Fire will honour our ancestors. We will gather and remember them.

The fire is our connection to the Spirit World.

Please bring a small piece of food that helps you feel connected to the ancestor you wish to honour. At the sacred fire, you will be invited to say your ancestor’s name and place the piece of food into the fire along with a piece of tobacco. Tobacco is a sacred plant often used in Indigenous ceremony. It will be provided to you at the fire.

Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. The ceremony will be led by Leonard Benoit, Regional Indigenous Cancer Patient Navigator for Toronto Central. Hear a teaching from traditional fire keeper Anthony Gladue.

Light catering will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
