"I was a healthy and happy person and I still got sick. Breast cancer doesn’t pick and choose who it’s going to target, it can happen to anyone, and many people don’t realize that. With more young women being diagnosed, I want to help raise awareness. I want people to do self-examinations and push for testing if you do feel a lump. As a younger woman who faced breast cancer, I recognize the importance of having a network who understands what you've gone through. That’s why I chose to share my story."

I felt a pain in my breast that woke me up in the middle of the night and that’s when I felt a lump. I wasn’t too worried, but I went to get it checked. I started feeling more worried at my mammogram appointment when they also did a biopsy (ouch!). Waiting for the results was terrible and took 2 weeks. By the time I got the call from my doctor, my husband and I were in Calgary for a wedding. She called as I was getting ready for the welcome drinks and said I have breast cancer. We were shocked and scared; we didn’t tell anyone and kept it to ourselves that weekend.
