Sunnybrook uses best evidence in approaching birthing, while also creating best practice. Recently, the Twin Birth Study, an international multicentre randomized control trial found that delivering twins by planned vaginal birth is as safe as delivering the twins by planned caesarean section. The Hospital is a leader in the development of the GTA-OBS Network, comprised of obstetricians collaborating to improve patient safety and standards of care. The Breastfeeding Centre of Excellence is a leader in breastfeeding practice, research and education, and innovative ways of supporting women, such a nurse practitioner visits using internet technology to allow the woman and her baby to stay in the comfort of their own home.
