Her-HEART study: Mobile Health Education to Reduce Heart Disease Post-Pregnancy

We are looking for women to participate in the Her-HEART study: Mobile Health Education to Reduce Heart Disease Post-Pregnancy.

Women develop high blood pressure and related disorders (preeclampsia) in seven per cent of pregnancies in Canada. Many affected women do not know that they are at an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure in the decades following their pregnancy.

The purpose of this study is to assess how to best educate and follow-up women post-pregnancy to reduce the long-term risk of heart disease.

Participants will:

  • Have a history of high blood pressure or preeclampsia during a pregnancy in the last five years
  • Agree to receive email communication to determine whether they prefer an online web-based education and/or a personalized telemedicine consultation. Participants will also join a telephone focus group to report their experience. No in-person visits are required.
  • Learn what they can do to reduce long-term health risks from high blood pressure or preeclampsia during a pregnancy
  • Please note: study time commitment will be no more than two hours cumulatively
