Peer Support program

The Ross Tilley Burn Centre is now offering a Peer Support program, called Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery (SOAR). SOAR connects survivors and loved ones with others who have experienced similar trauma. This support can be a powerful part of the healing process, offering empathy, encouragement, and hope. The SOAR program was developed by the Phoenix Society, a worldwide organization working to empower the burn community.

Requirements:

  1. Must be one year or more post injury
  2. Submit an application
  3. Participate in two interviews
  4. Attend 8 hour training (4 hour prep; 4 hour zoom) through the Phoenix Society
  5. Meet Sunnybrook Hospital volunteer requirements
